Delaware River Bridge - Philadelphia & Reading Railroad (1911-1914)
Construction workers being lifted to the work site. The main cable carrying the workers was supported from the top of two very high construction derricks, one at either end of the bridge. On the far side, the Trenton Industrial Water Canal is easily identified alongside the Delaware River, along with a small bridge where River Road crosses Gould's Creek. It appears that the creek then flows into the Industrial Water Canal. Another copy of this postcard was pictured without caption and unidentified, in the book "Prairie Fires and Paper Moons, The American Photographic Postcard: 1900-1920," written by Hal Morgan and Andreas Brown, Published by David R. Godine, Boston, 1981 |
