April 2005 Flood Photographs

Flood Level Investigation:  A - The Courier Times newspaper on April 5, 2005 (the morning after the flood) provided a full color half page aerial photo of Belmondo Apartments and parts of Yardley Borough. This photo clearly showed the edges of the flooded and non-flooded areas. Comparing this photo to L.M.T. 2-ft contour maps established the flood elevation of 37-feet at Belmondo.  B - The flood level was also identified by residents and office personnel. Larry Hale (Civil Engineer) found this flood level to be even with the top of the 3-steps (see Photograph "A") and 36-inches below the inside floor level of the adjacent apartment building.  C - In addition to the above, the flood level has now been confimed by a photograph recently found on the Internet (see Photograph "B").

Location of Photo:  Apartments shown in distance are facing River Road.
The "blue" flood mark corresponds to 25.33-ft flood stage at Trenton (photo not necessarily horizontal).
The maximum crest during a 100-yr flood is 25.00-ft flood stage at Trenton

It turns out a discerning Lower Makefield Township resident and then High School Student living at Belmondo photographed the actual flood line at the location of the steps cited above and posted it on the Internet. I can't say enough about the value of this photograph. Well done "spacemutt3371" !
